O I Glass : Prestigious Packaging Awards in Europe & U.S. Recognize Boomerang’s Innovative Glass Water Bottle

It's been an exciting fall for the founders of Boomerang Water, an on-site, small batch bottling water company providing pure, premium bottled water for commercial venues like hotels and college campuses, as well as serving small business and family homes in the greater Charlotte, North Carolina, area, where they're based. Boomerang's innovative glass water bottle has earned design awards on two continents … and it's no surprise! The container breaks conventions: No plastic, for one - instead, it's made from durable, sustainable glass.

The company is the vision of co-founder Jason Dibble, who was shocked by the sheer amount of single-use plastic water bottles he saw while serving overseas in the United States military. Dibble set out to find a sustainable replacement. Along with co-founder and CFO, Jerrod Freund, the two approached O-I with their vision: "We tasked O-I with building a better water bottle - as easy and convenient as on-the-go plastic, but made of higher quality materials to ensure purity and sustainability for our eco-conscious consumer."

The water bottle is getting major award attention. In late September, Boomerang won silver in the Sustainable Design category at the 2021 Pentawards. The Pentawards recognize design excellence and are judged by an international jury from across the global packaging community.

Boomerang was also recognized in the 2021 Clear Choice Awards, the annual awards competition sponsored by the Glass Packaging Institute (GPI) in the United States. The Clear Choice Awards recognize brands working with North American glass container manufacturers to create first-rate designs and shape powerful consumer experiences. Boomerang Water's glass bottle won in the Non-Alcoholic Beverage category.
