Panasonic : Joins WBCSD (World Business Council for Sustainable Development)

Panasonic Holdings Corporation (hereafter referred to as PHD) has joined the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (Headquarters: Geneva, Switzerland, hereafter referred to as WBCSD), which conducts research and advocacy on economic, environmental and social issues with the aim of realizing a sustainable future.
Panasonic Group has established a long-term environmental vision, Panasonic GREEN IMPACT (hereafter referred to as PGI), aiming to achieve both a "better life" and a "sustainable global environment". Under this vision, the group is engaged in business activities with the aim of reducing CO2 emissions from its operations to net zero by FY2031 and creating impact that reduces CO2 emissions by more than 300 million tons*1, or about 1% of the current total global emissions*2 by 2050.
WBCSD is a global organization of about 200 leading companies aiming for sustainable development, working together to contribute to the transition to a sustainable society. It is currently working together with governments, NGOs and international organizations around the world to address issues related to sustainable development.
PHD has joined WBCSD in order to accelerate the group's PGI activities, sympathizing with the philosophy of the transition to the global sustainable society that WBCSD is aiming for.
Moving forward, Panasonic Group will contribute to the resolution of social issues and the realization of a sustainable society through our activities with the WBCSD project.

- electronic and electromechanical components (13.2%): relays, switches, power supply systems, industrial motors and sensors, capacitors, coils, resistors, materials for electronic circuits, semiconductors, LCD panels, etc.;
- automotive multimedia equipment and electronic accessories (12.4%);
- avionics, industrial automation, communication and entertainment systems (10.8%): in-flight entertainment and communication systems, electronic component assembly machines, welding equipment, projectors, professional audio-visual systems, computers, tablets, mobile communication systems and equipment, etc.;
- energy storage systems (8.9%): cylindrical lithium-ion batteries, dry batteries, primary/secondary lithium batteries, nickel-metal hydride batteries, lithium-ion batteries, energy storage modules and systems;
- other (12.2%).
Net sales break down geographically as follows: Japan (43.2%), China (13.4%), Asia (14.7%), Americas (18.7%) and Europe (10%).
