22.01.2022 TMK presents Seversky Pipe Plant's upgraded production facilities to leaders of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Russian Ministry of Finance

TMK has presented the advanced production facilities of Seversky Pipe Plant to a government delegation led by Viktor Evtukhov, State Secretary, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, and Alexey Sazanov, State Secretary, Deputy Minister of Finance of the Russian Federation. Dmitry Pumpyanskiy, Chairman of TMK's Board of Directors, and Mikhail Zuyev, Managing Director of the plant, gave the guests a tour of the plant's upgraded shops.

The guests visited the plant's electric arc furnace shop, which produces 950 thousand tonnes of continuously cast billets annually, both for internal consumption and to meet the needs of TMK's Sinarsky Pipe Plant. They also visited the rolling shop that boasts one of the country's most advanced FQM pipe rolling mills and a new heat treatment facility with annual capacity of over 300 thousand tonnes of pipe, commissioned in 2020. The heat treatment facility manufactures high-tech products for use in developing hard-to-recover hydrocarbon reserves as well as drilling in harsh environments and in the Far North. The facility also includes a water treatment unit with water recycling, which makes it possible to reuse 20 million m3 of water annually, significantly reducing the plant's environmental impact.

Viktor Evtukhov commented: "It really is one of the best enterprises in Russia and globally. Huge investments have been made to drive forward the technology agenda, which is very important, and also to enhance environmental protection. We have come to the plant sites and seen that the snow here is whiter than even in the nearby cities, as 99% of emissions are captured. This is more essential than ever before, especially in the context of the new decisions that have been and are being taken around the world and in the European Union. For products to be in demand and competitive not only domestically but also internationally, they need to meet the highest standards and requirements."

According to Alexey Sazanov, the investment potential of Russia's metals industry is linked to the ESG agenda. He remarked: "We see the industry's huge potential to reduce emissions and develop clean, green production. At Seversky Pipe Plant, we saw a vivid example of how production processes can be retrofitted to cut emissions. The global need for this is felt strongly, and the demand for this technology is growing."
