PRESS ADVISORY Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital's new maternity ward welcomes its first babies

Singapore, 31 March 2014 - The new maternity ward at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital (MNH)
smoothly delivered not one, not two but three babies over the first weekend of its launch last Friday,
28 March 2014.

The hospital's first baby was born to Mr Sean Wong, 35 and Ms Ding Yao, 28 at 2.52am on Friday. The baby boy is the couple's second child and weighed 3.21kg.

The hospital's second birth and first baby girl arrived about 3 hours later at 6.22am to Mr Goh Ee Hwee, 39 and Ms Chong Siew Mei, 39. The baby girl weighed 3.49kg and is the couple's second child.
Mr Avan Tan, 35 and Ms Shareen Cheng, 30 gave birth to the hospital's third baby at 5.56pm on Saturday. Little Claudia weighed

2.87kg and is also the couple's second child.
To welcome the arrival of its first babies, each of the three babies
received gifts worth more than $1,200. For delivering the hospital's first baby, Ms Ding was given a complimentary room upgrade to a Junior Suite. The hospital also threw a small party for her family and friends to celebrate the happy occasion.
MNH's new maternity ward is Singapore's first in the last 16
years. It is also the first and only maternity ward that guarantees mothers in labour the privacy and comfort of a single-room throughout their delivery experience.
The decision to launch a maternity ward at MNH comes after it received frequent feedback from doctors and patients who believed the hospital's private and tranquil environment makes it the ideal place for resting mothers after birth.
The new 12-room maternity ward will also help alleviate some of the demand at sister hospital, Mount
Elizabeth Hospital, which has seen more and more requests for single-bedded maternity rooms.
