Steinhoff Africa Retail Limited announced that Fagmeedah Petersen-Cook has been appointed as an independent non-executive director to the board of STAR, with immediate effect. She will serve on the board's Audit & Risk Committee. She is an actuary with twenty-one years of technical experience in the pensions and investments industry. Until 2015, she was the Chief Investment Officer at the Eskom Pension and Provident Fund, where she was responsible for the investment of ZAR 120 billion. Fagmeedah was first appointed by former Finance Minister Trevor Manuel to the board of the Government Employees Pension Fund, to bring her expertise to the oversight of the investment activity of the PIC.
