Portugal Telecom Appoints Joao Manuel De Mello Franco as New Chairman

Portugal Telecom (PT) declared that Joao Manuel de Mello Franco has been hired as the chairman of the board. The hiring is subject to ratification at the next General Meeting of Shareholders. Presently, Franco is a member of the board and has functioned at PT for over 30 years and served in management since 1998.
