HORIBA Scientific announced enhancements to the software in its MESA-50 Energy Dispersive X-Ray Fluorescence Analyzer. HORIBA X-RAY Lab is the new software in its MESA-50 EDXRF analyzer. MESA-50 was designed for businesses needing to screen samples containing harmful elements, such as lead, cadmium, chromium, mercury, bromine for RoHS, End of Life compliance, and chlorine for halogen-free As and Sb applications. The new software offers a flexible layout enabling users to prioritize what windows they want to use, and it allows them to analyze one set of results while performing measurements on another. For RoHS and ELV measurements, the 'Auto Material Identification' function is designed to 'pre-measure' a sample in 10 seconds, and then it will classify the sample, select a suitable measurement condition, and set parameters for each matrix. The operator does not need to make these decisions. The 'Automatic Judgement and Measurement Termination' function determines whether the sample is OK or Not Good (NG), based on the concentration of harmful elements in the sample are above or below the threshold values. MESA-50 stops automatically when that decision is reached. This shortens the measurement times and enables more efficient screening analysis.
