PIMCO Strategic Global Government Fund Inc. announced earnings results for the third quarter and nine months ended October 31, 2013. For the quarter, the company reported net investment income of $10,378,234 or $0.25 per share compared to $9,492,576 or $0.23 per share for the same period a year ago. Net realized and change in unrealized gain was $3,271,133 or $0.08 per share compared to $17,984,177 or $0.46 per share for the same period a year ago.
For the nine months, the company reported net investment income of $29,391,102 or $0.72 per share compared to $32,032,157 or $0.79 per share for the same period a year ago. PIMCO Strategic Income Fund, Inc. (the Fund) is a closed-end management investment company. Its investment objective is to generate a level of income that is higher than that generated by high quality, intermediate-term United States debt securities. It also seeks capital appreciation to the extent consistent with this objective. It invests at least 80% of its net assets (plus any borrowings for investment purposes) in a combination of income-producing securities of non-corporate issuers, such as securities issued or guaranteed by the U.S. or foreign governments, mortgage-related and other asset-backed securities issued on a public or private basis, corporate debt obligations and other income-producing securities of varying maturities issued by United States or foreign (non-United States) corporations or other business entities, including emerging market issuers, and municipal securities (the 80% policy).
