Sber, in conjunction with En+ Group, has ensured the issuance and delivery of I-REC renewable energy certificates that will fully cover the energy used at the 25th Far Eastern Energy Forum Sakhalin Oil & Gas, held September 28-30, 2021.

The initiative is a precedent in the congress and exhibition industry. Green certificates were donated to Sber by En+ Group, a leading vertically integrated aluminum and electricity producer.

Alexander Vedyakhin, first deputy chairman of the executive board, Sberbank:

"Sakhalin Region is an ESG transformation flagship in Russia. It was the first region in Russia to set a goal of reaching carbon neutrality by 2025. Sber, as a driver of ESG transformation for its clients and partners, is providing comprehensive support to the region. In collaboration with regional authorities, we are working on creating infrastructure for the implementation of environmental projects and carbon credit projects, which, I am certain, will become landmark projects not only for Russia, but for the whole world. Issuing green certificates for the Far Eastern Energy Forum is yet another step on the path toward decarbonizing the regional and national economies."

Anton Butmanov, director for sustainable development, En+ Group:

"The issuance of I-REC certificates for Sberbank to provide renewable energy for Far Eastern Energy Forum Sakhalin Oil & Gas 2021 is further evidence of Russia's biggest business's commitment to ESG principles. Once CO2 regulations are in place, the business sector's efforts to reduce its carbon footprint can be officially verified using international standards."

En+ Group has been issuing I-REC certificates since December 2020 and currently provides readymade services in this field. The certificates correspond to the volume of electricity produced by the group's power plants: EuroSibEnergo (Krasnoyarsk HPP) and Abakan SPP (Abakansk Solar Plant). They guarantee that the electricity being bought was produced using renewable resources. The certificates are in full compliance with GHG Protocol principles and are recognized by top global initiatives CDP and RE100. Consumers can use I-REC certifications to meet reporting standards, implement corporate social responsibility policies, and reduce Scope 2 emissions, which include emissions from power generation.
