Individual investors have opened over 426,000 personal investment accounts (PIA)[1] with management companies as of May 1, 2021, according to MOEX. Russians opened the most PIAs in trust with Sber Asset Management, with the metric standing at 262,500[2] (48,500 since the start of the year compared to 25,600 in the first four months of 2020). Sber Asset Investment clients have invested a total of RUB 67 bn[3], compared to RUB 48 bn a year ago.

Saving is the most popular PIA strategy among customers, giving them the opportunity to invest in government bonds, as well as bonds issued by major Russian companies. Investments in bonds are made acquiring shares in funds managed by Sber Asset Management. A PIA in trust can be opened via SberBank Online or at SberBank branches nationwide.

A personal investment account (PIA) is a special account for investing in securities, allowing clients to generate income and get tax refunds of up to RUB 52,000 per year. PIAs with Sber Asset Management are readymade investment solutions developed by professional financiers for people who lack the opportunity or the experience needed to trade on the stock market on their own. A PIA is opened for a three-year-term. If a client has received their deduction and closes their account before the term expires, they will need to return it.
