Almost 400 people of 273 firms took part in PKN ORLEN Offshore Wind Supply Chain Meeting 2020.

This was the first in a series of meetings for suppliers interested in collaboration opportunities in the Baltic Power offshore wind farm supply chain.

The event was held online on December 9th 2020, and its participants had the opportunity to learn about the Company's offshore wind power development plans in the context of the new ORLEN2030 strategy, assumptions underlying the Baltic Power offshore wind project and key details of procurement processes associated with the project.

PKN ORLEN plans to undertake further meetings as part of its dialogue with suppliers. A series of meetings will be held in 2021 to discuss the individual work packages, with the participants to include Tier 1 suppliers. During the meetings, held in workshop format, participants will be provided with detailed information on the requirements, technology and schedules for the individual procurement packages. The excellent turnout of close to 400 people representing various businesses and industries is an important sign for PKN ORLEN that firms are greatly interested in working with the Company on its offshore wind projects.

PKN ORLEN's plans to develop offshore wind power generation in the Baltic Sea are an opportunity for Polish enterprises. The projects located in Poland's exclusive economic zone will need a robust supply chain. The conditions in the Baltic Sea, Poland's geographical location and the already declared readiness of companies to undertake a new business venture create for the offshore wind industry an opportunity to become the driving force of the Polish economy.

PKN ORLEN is the first fuel and energy company in Central Europe to declare an intention to achieve emission neutrality by 2050. By 2030, the Group will reduce its CO2 emissions from its current refining and petrochemical assets by 20%, and CO2/MWh emissions from electricity generation assets by 33%. The project to build an offshore wind farm, now at an advanced stage of preparation, is for the Company one of the key ventures that will be instrumental in achieving these objectives.
