NEW YORK (AP) _ Prospect Capital Corp. (PSEC) on Tuesday reported fiscal second-quarter net income of $306 million, after reporting a loss in the same period a year earlier.

The New York-based company said it had net income of 80 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for investment gains, came to 21 cents per share.

The business development company posted revenue of $172.3 million in the period.

Prospect Capital shares have risen 24% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Tuesday, shares hit $6.69, a rise of almost 3% in the last 12 months.
