Protalix Biotherapeutics, Inc. Announces Board Changes

Protalix BioTherapeutics, Inc. announced that Shlomo Yanai has resigned from the company’s Board of Directors for personal reasons, effective immediately. Mr. Yanai has served on the Board of Directors and as the Company’s Chairman of the Board since July 2014. With the announcement of Mr. Yanai’s resignation, the Board of Directors unanimously elected Zeev Bronfeld, a current independent director, as Chairman of the Board. Mr. Bronfeld is one of the earliest investors in the Company. He has served as a director of Protalix Ltd. since 1996 and as a director of the Company since December 2006. Mr. Bronfeld is an experienced businessman with experience in the management of biotechnology and life sciences companies. He has been involved in numerous private and public Israeli companies, and in a number of technology incubators in Israel that facilitate the formation and development of biotechnology and technology companies.
Protalix BioTherapeutics, Inc. is a biopharmaceutical company. The Company is focused on the development and commercialization of recombinant therapeutic proteins expressed through its proprietary plant cell-based expression system, ProCellEx. In addition, the Company is developing PEGylated uricase, or PRX-115, for the treatment of severe gout, Long Acting (LA) DNase I, or PRX-119, for the treatment of NETs-related diseases, and other technologies and preclinical assets. Its product, Elelyso is an enzyme replacement therapy (ERT) for the treatment of patients with Gaucher disease. Its ProCellEx platform is being used to manufacture both of its approved and marketed products as well as PRX-115 and PRX-119. PRX-115, a plant cell-expressed recombinant PEGylated Uricase (urate oxidase)- a chemically modified enzyme under development for the potential treatment of severe gout. PRX-119 is a plant cell-expressed PEGylated recombinant human DNase I product candidate.
