Aneka Tambang Persero Tbk PT : ANTAM Receives Four Green Proper Rating in 2016

Jakarta, December 16, 2016 - PT ANTAM (Persero) Tbk (ASX -ATM; IDX - ANTM; ANTAM) is pleased to announce it has received 4 Green Rating and 3 Blue Rating during the PROPER Award 2015-2016 for the sound implementation of environmental management by ANTAM's business units, subsidiary and sub-subsidiary. The award, which was held by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), was presented by the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia H.M Jusuf Kalla and the Minister of Environment and Forestry Siti Nurbaya at the Vice Presidential Palace, Jakarta.

ANTAM's Operations Director, Agus Zamzam Jamaluddin said:
' The PROPER award recognizes our continuous commitment in implementing and ensuring best mining practice to safeguard the environmental quality throughout our operations. In 2016, the Bauxite Mining Business Unit (UBPP Bauksit) and PT Cibaliung Sumberdaya (PT CSD) received substantial achievements by obtaining the Green rating over the Blue rating last year. ANTAM's achievements in obtaining the Green and Blue Ratings illustrate ANTAM's beyond compliance practice on the environmental management implementation standard which is assessed by KLHK. In accordance with the company's sustainability strategy, ANTAM continues to deliver positive impact to the environment as well as create well being and self-reliance to reach sustainability level. '

ANTAM's 2016 environmental performance showed significant progress over 2015. In 2015, ANTAM received 2 Green ratings, whereas in 2016 ANTAM received 4 Green ratings. ANTAM's Gold Mining Business Unit, Bauxite Mining Business Unit and PT CSD, ANTAM's subsidiary, each received Green rating in the category of Mineral and Coal Mining. Meanwhile, ANTAM's Precious Metal Processing and Refining Business Unit received the Green rating in the Metal Processing, Automotive, Automotive Components, Glass, and Metal Smelting category.

In addition ANTAM also received 3 Blue ratings in the Mineral and Coal Mining category. The Blue ratings were received by the Southeast Sulawesi Nickel Mining Business Unit, North Maluku Nickel Mining Business Unit and ANTAM's sub-subsidiary, PT Citra Tobindo Sukses Perkasa.

ANTAM's Green PROPER rating demonstrates the above standard environmental management implementation within and outside the operations area in the accordance with the PROPER criteria. ANTAM's initiative in improving the effectiveness of the environmental management system is achieved not only through compliance to regulations, but also through additional initiatives such as energy efficiency, reduction in emission, biodiversity preservation and Corporate Social Responsibility. These initiatives have direct impact to the surrounding communities in ANTAM's operations.

The PROPER assessment ranks companies or entities into 5 ratings: Gold, Green, Blue, Red and Black. The Gold and Green ratings indicate an entity has exceeded the environmental management government standards. The Blue rating indicates an entity has met the required standard whilst Red and Black ratings indicate an entity has yet or has not met the required standards.

PROPER is an industrial assessment program aiming to encourage the industry adherence to environmental regulations. PROPER assessment covers environmental permit, water pollution control, air pollution control, management of toxic and hazardous waste as well as land damage potential (for mining entities).
