Chandra Asri's Trilene RI20HC02 Has Officially Obtained Medical Certification to Ensure Compliance of A Strict Medical Standard

Jakarta, 20 April 2022 - PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk (Chandra Asri), the largest integrated petrochemical company in Indonesia, launched a resin that can be used as a raw material for the manufacture of syringes, Trilene® RI20HC02. This resin, which is a type of Polypropylene, is specially designed to meet the strictest medical standard for syringe applications that can also support the Government's program in accelerating COVID-19 vaccinations and boosters in Indonesia.

Trilene® RI20HC02 has passed medical device biocompatibility testing and also certified with ISO 10993 standards. Thus, this resin is safe to use as a medical device application because it has been tested for its appropriateness in managing biological risks. This medical device has also been confirmed to have no potentially harmful physiological effects for humans.

General Manager of Technical Service and Product Development, Supriyanto said, "We are very pleased to be able to contribute and supporting the compliance of medical device standard which also support the Government's vaccination program by presenting Trilene® RI20HC02, a resin that can also help to meet the demand of medical device applications, which are still dominated by imported products. With the availability of raw material supplies and more guaranteed chain value, we hope that Trilene® RI20HC02 will meet domestic medical device needs while encouraging import substitute by increasing the domestic components level (TKDN)."

In addition to being medically certified, Trilene® RI20HC02 also resists gamma irradiation, while meeting UV absorption standards. According to Japanese Pharmacopoeia, the official pharmacopoeia published by the Japan Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Agency, the 18th edition, Trilene® RI20HC02 which has a good transparency level is also suitable for the use of transparent container applications as well as other general injection applications.

Chandra Asri is commited to develop the national petrochemical industry to support the government in creating the independence of the domestic industrial sector, one of which is by presenting the second global petrochemical complex, CAP2. The operation of CAP2 will catapult Chandra Asri's production capacity from 4.7 million tons to 8.9 million tons per year.
