(Alliance News) - Safilo Group Spa announced Monday an evolution in its organizational structure, with the aim of supporting the implementation of the group's strategic plan "to continue to grow in a key market like North America and accelerate business in the sports channel."

Francesco Rinaldi Ceroni was appointed president of Safilo's Global Sport Division, "thanks to his experience and knowledge of the sports segment as well as his commitment to innovation and sustainability," the company explained.

"Under his leadership, Safilo aims to maximize the strength of its outdoor brands and their development capacity in international markets, thus contributing to the group's medium-term goal of having a sports channel representing about 12 percent of sales by 2027."

Vittorio Verdun has joined Safilo Group as its new president for the North American market. Verdun is a senior global executive with more than 30 years of experience. For 13 years, he led international and cross-functional teams in the eyewear industry, driving strategic business development across all major channels.

"We believe our Global Sport Division can create significant opportunities in our growth path as a key-player in the industry. We are excited to have a strong leader like Francesco Rinaldi Ceroni at the helm of one of the key assets for the growth of our group. We also welcome Vittorio Verdun as President for the North American market. With his experience, knowledge and wide range of skills he will be able to lead the group well in the U.S. and Canada," said Angelo Trocchia, chief executive officer of Safilo Group.
