SAGICOR FINANCIAL COMPANY LTD. Sagicor joined the world in raising awareness and funds to observe Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October. Across the Sagicor Group, a #CheckYoursOut tee shirt fundraiser took place in its Southern Caribbean markets in support of each country's cancer society. In Trinidad, on November 25, finance manager Gina Paul-Schwartz, left, was pleased to present a cheque for $21,000 to Dr Asante Le Blanc, the chairman of the Trinidad and Tobago Cancer Society on behalf of Sagicor. The monies raised by clients and staff purchasing the tees were matched by the organisation.
The cheque handover was the culmination of a month-long series of activities, including a social media campaign, and a Let's Talk About Cancer webinar, which featured oncologist Dr Kavi Capildeo; paediatrician and cancer survivor Dr Mariama Alleyne; Dr Le Blanc; and registered psychiatric nurse Sherma Mills-Serrette.
