Renewal of Rome's Metro Line A
15 April 2023
Renewal works on Rome's Metro A continue: the Salcef Group will replace 25 km of track on the Anagnina-Ottaviano section.

The tender contract involves replacing the railway infrastructure - tracks, turnouts and ballast - of a historic section of the capital's metro system, built in 1978 and in operation since 1980.

The Salcef Group is working on the executive design and implementation of alltrack renewalworks, replacing the old wooden sleepers with concrete sleepers, replacing ballast, renewing sections of slab track and repairing hydraulic channels.

The work, carried out on behalf of the ATAC, the capital's transport body, began on 4th July 2022 and involves 18 months of work on site with temporary night-time track possession, to allow normal traffic during the day and avoid a complete interruption of the service.

This project involves many Group companies like RECO, which developed the executive design of the works, Overail which produced the prestressed concrete sleepers, and SRT, which manufactured the special vehicles for maintenance work, adapted to the reduced gauge of the metro tunnels.
