- Transition to Birgit Potrafki accomplished maintaining continuity
The long-standing CFO of Salzgitter AG, Burkhard Becker, retired on 2024/04/01. He had worked for the Group since 2008. He is succeeded by Birgit Potrafki.
Heinz-Gerhard Wente, Chairman of Salzgitter AG's Supervisory Board, thanked Burkhard Becker: "Burkhard Becker made an exceptional contribution in his various managerial positions in the Salzgitter Group, and led various Business Units besides his work as CFO. The Group, its employees and stakeholders owe him a debt of gratitude. Thanks to the sound financial management of Burkhard Becker, Salzgitter AG is on the right track and well equipped to face the future."
This was also underlined by Burkhard Becker. "Around 26 years after its flotation, the Salzgitter Group is in a very sound position, as a well structured company with a healthy balance sheet. I am convinced of its strength - as an independent company with a diversified portfolio, working closely with its employees in a true spirit of co-determination. The important thing is to keep an eye on financial equilibrium."
Birgit Potrafki will succeed Burkhard Becker. She joined the Board on 2024/02/01 and since 2024/04/01 she has been responsible for Finance and IT. Birgit Potrafki enjoyed managerial roles in the Bosch Group for many years. Heinz-Gerhard Wente commented as follows: "We have succeeded in recruiting a person with proven managerial qualities in the shape of Birgit Potrafki. We are convinced that she will make a definitive contribution to the task of successfully aligning the Salzgitter Group with the circular economy and low carbon production processes for the future."
