SABIC participated as a strategic partner in the MIT Enterprise Forum's Start Smart Conference in Madinah from February 21 to 23, highlighting its long-term local content goals through its initiative, NUSANED™, and its contributions toward the successful accomplishment of Saudi Vision 2030.

On the sidelines of the event, SABIC also signed an agreement with the Madinah Chamber of Commerce and Industry to support the region's local content goals and enable Saudi nationals to take up meaningful jobs.

In comments before the event, Abdullah Al-Arifi, SABIC Vice President, Local Content & Business Development, said, "We are happy and honored to be a strategic partner in this startup conference, particularly since our NUSANED™ initiative seeks to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to get started with their innovative ideas. We are looking forward to continue being a key enabler of Saudi Vision 2030 by promoting the localization of materials and services and creating downstream business opportunities."

Signed on behalf of SABIC by Abdullah Al-Damer, Senior Manager, Strategic Partnerships & Performance Management, the agreement with the Madinah Chamber includes organizing employment forums and workshops aimed at creating job opportunities. Besides, SABIC will embed its NUSANED™ initiative in the Chamber's programs as applicable and share a database of its partners for possible new business ventures.

In his speech, Al-Damer spoke about how NUSANED™ had contributed significantly to Saudi Arabia's GDP and was helping in workforce development through training and entrepreneurship. He called on aspiring entrepreneurs to register with the initiative's opportunity-gate digital platform, Entema.

The Start Smart Conference provided an opportunity to explore innovative local and international startups and offered a platform for the participants to meet investors and get insights into the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
