Savills : Kings Place achieves UK's best ever BREEAM rating for management

Savills, on behalf of Deka Immobilien GmbH at Kings Place, London N1, has achieved a BREEAM In-Use rating of Outstanding (95%) for Management, the highest BREEAM operational sustainability rating for property management ever accomplished in the UK. Kings Place is one of only two buildings to achieve an Outstanding rating for Management in the UK, and one of only 56 globally.

In addition, Kings Place has received a rating of Excellent (75%) for Asset Performance.

The mixed use, prime London asset, located next to Regents Canal, is multi-let to a number of high profile, blue chip tenants with a leisure offer, including a restaurant, art and events facilities and a theatre, on the lower floors. The BREEAM In-Use assessment on the building independently assessed the asset (built form) and management sustainability performance of the building across nine categories: energy; greenhouse gas emissions; water; waste; air quality; noise; lighting and health and wellbeing.

Alan Page, sustainability consultant at Savills, comments: 'This is a tremendous result for Kings Place that sets the bar for other buildings in terms of sustainable property management and highlights what can be achieved through considered and coordinated improvements. Savills and Deka have accomplished these goals by making bespoke changes to the operation of Kings Place to reduce and accurately monitor energy and water consumption, commissioning internal light and air quality surveys to better understand occupier health & wellbeing, installing secure cycle racks and shower facilities to support green travel, enhancing the existing green roof to include bird boxes and encourage greater biodiversity and providing separate collection of recyclable waste to meet occupier needs.

Savills facilities management services within the building are also certified under the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System standard.
