Online financial group SBI Holdings Inc. on Tuesday postponed a press conference by President and CEO Yoshitaka Kitao immediately before its scheduled start, citing an unspecified urgent matter he faced.

SBI has boosted its stake in Shinsei Bank to around 47.8 percent from around 20 percent via a tender offer that ended Friday. Kitao was expected to explain the financial group's management policy following the successful tender offer in the press conference, which had been set to start at 10 a.m.

The new date for his press conference has yet to be decided.
