Labeling requirements have been set for priority products like food and beverages, household products, children's items, telecommunication equipment, drugs and supplements, chemicals cosmetics and toiletries.

Myanmar's Department of Consumer Affairs has published Directive No. 1/2019. It states that for the safety of consumers, labeling requirements for the goods listed in Notification No. 1/2018 need to be met.
Notification No.1/2018 requires labels to be affixed to certain products sold in Myanmar. The Notification requires labels to be in the Myanmar language and they must contain the following information:
- Directions for use
- Storage instructions
- Allergy alerts and/or warnings
- Side effects (if any)
The full list of product categories and priority products covered by these requirements is available in the Notification:

Children items | Strollers, cradles, baby walkers, toys and accessories, baby hygiene products |
Telecommunication equipment | Corded and cordless phones, mobile phones and accessories |
Drugs and supplements | Household drugs (oral medication and application, lotions, ointments) which require no prescription, health supplements, traditional medicine |
Chemicals | Agricultural fertilizers, insecticides and pesticides, chemicals used for food and drinks, consumer products and cosmetics |
Cosmetics | Cosmetics (above 10g), cosmetics (under and equal 10g), hair treatment products |
Toiletries | Toothpaste, soap (liquid, solid, powder) |
Other equipment | Agricultural equipment, fitness equipment |
The new labeling requirements come into force on April 26, 2019.
