Sinochem Group of China has acquired one of the first oil cargoes that will be shipped through the expanded Trans Mountain pipeline in Canada, reports Bloomberg.

Sinochem purchased a 550,000-barrel cargo of Access Western Blend from Suncor, which will be loaded from the Trans Mountain pipeline’s expansion in May or June, anonymous traders told the news service.

The Trans Mountain expansion nearly triples the capacity of the pipeline, from land-locked Alberta across the Rockies to the coast of British Columbia. Analysts had predicted that crude from the pipeline would be sold to Asia and California.

The government-owned Trans Mountain Corp has meanwhile started line filling the pipeline, in stages, reported Reuters.
