Société Internationale de PlantatioXZns d'Hévéas announced turnover results for the first quarter of 2016. For the quarter, the company reported total tonnages sold were up 22.3% as compared to the previous year, amounting to 48,107,000 tonnes against 39,324,000 tonnes a year ago. This increase indicates a growth of production significantly related to the larger amounts of rubber bought from rubber growers, which amounts now account for 67% of total production (instead of 64%). This sharp rise in sales to a large extent countered the fall in selling prices expressed in Euros (which were down 13.6% as compared to the same period last year): rubber sales therefore work out to EUR 50.4 million, a 5.7% rise over first quarter of 2015.
