STMicroelectronics unveils a new generation of microcontrollers (MCUs), presented as 'energy-efficient and highly cost-effective'.

According to the company, these MCUs can reduce power consumption by up to 50% compared with previous generations of products.

They offer the possibility of 'replacing batteries less often, reducing the impact of discarded batteries, designing more devices without batteries, running solely on an energy harvesting system such as a small photovoltaic cell.'

'It is vital that these ubiquitous devices consume as little power as possible, as they help to reduce energy losses at system level. The new STM32U0 microcontroller series we are presenting today takes this to the next level, building on our proven ultra-low power technologies," says Patrick Aidoune, General Manager, General Purpose Microcontrollers Division, STMicroelectronics.'
