"Our board is extremely excited to launch this new online public school," said Kim McClelland, Executive Director of Colorado Digital BOCES. "The engaging curriculum, exceptional social support services and dedicated teaching staff are a winning combination and we look forward to making our school a success for students across Colorado."

PPOS offers students an individualized education tailored to each child's specific needs. Multiple versions of courses are available to help assure that each student is taught at the right level. Credit recovery courses are available for students who need to catch up in a subject, as well as highly targeted remediation sessions to build specific skills.

"Showing students you care and believe in them helps create a positive, nurturing relationship that is the basis for helping these students focus on their academic success," said Amy Valentine, Executive Director at Pikes Peak Online School. "We start with high quality instruction supported by programs like our Why Try curriculum, which is a research-based approach to secondary education that decreases counter-productive behaviors and improves social skills."

To inspire students to work hard and succeed, the curriculum used by PPOS combines engaging web-based lessons, live online learning sessions and support from experienced teachers and counselors. The online curriculum is bolstered by the Why Try social and emotional learning program, as well as a Family Support Team to help students achieve success both academically and personally.

PPOS teachers provide instruction, guidance and support, and regularly interact with students and parents via email, web-based classrooms, online discussions and phone. Teachers also organize field trips and school activities to give students the opportunity to participate in events that help bring the school community together.

Enrollment is now open for Fall 2015. To help parents and children learn more about the program, PPOS will host community information sessions, as well as several online information sessions, throughout the summer. Interested families are encouraged to visit the school's website for details on these upcoming events, as well as more about PPOS and how to enroll.
