Sumo Logic, Inc. announced the appointment of Greylock Data Scientist-in-Residence DJ Patil and data security experts, Gerhard Eschelbeck and Nir Zuk, to its advisory board. Each of the new appointments has a strong track record of innovation and strategic business execution working with early to late stage startups and with related technologies. Their counsel will support the ongoing development of Sumo Logic's proprietary technology and breakthrough cloud-based log management and analytics service. DJ Patil is an expert in chaos theory, among other mathematical disciplines, and co-coined the role data scientist. He is currently a Data Scientist-in-Residence at Greylock Partners and formerly led the Data and Analytics Teams at LinkedIn. DJ is a respected author and has served as an AAAS Science & Technology Policy Fellow for the United States Department of Defense. Gerhard Eschelbeck, CTO and Senior Vice President at Sophos, holds a number of information security patents and is one of the inventors of the Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS). He previously served as CTO and senior vice president at Webroot Software, CTO and senior vice president of engineering at Qualys, where he helped the company achieve a leadership position in the SaaS-based vulnerability management market, and has held senior product and technology roles at Network Associates and McAfee, among others. Gerhard has been honored among the InfoWorld 25 Most Influential CTOs three times and is a highly regarded author. Nir Zuk, founder and CTO of Palo Alto Networks, brings a wealth of network security expertise and industry experience to Sumo Logic. Prior to co-founding Palo Alto Networks, Nir served as CTO of NetScreen Technologies (acquired by Juniper Networks in 2004), and was cofounder and CTO at OneSecure, a pioneer in intrusion prevention and detection appliances.
