On 31 January SWARCO signed a contract for a major urban traffic management project with various locations throughout Hungary, including several urban areas, after winning the corresponding tender issued by the Hungarian Public Road Non-Profit Ltd.

In the course of the project SWARCO will develop a new fault indication system specifically tailored to Hungarian needs and also adapt its service software to perfectly fit the local requirements. The final system will provide a cutting-edge traffic control system that puts traffic management in Hungary to a new level. Harmonized and adaptive traffic control with remote control and service functionality will help improve traffic flow and reduce emissions.

The extensive project includes the delivery, installation and set up of the following components:

  • central software
  • open communication interface (compatible with existing GSM based APN system)
  • 452 ACTROS traffic controllers
  • 4600+ FUTURA LED traffic signals
  • 793 vehicle detectors and 443 pedestrian sensors for 134 intersections
  • TOUCH Push Buttons

In addition, all the necessary cabling, technical planning and engineering will be provided by SWARCO. Installation and development work has already started. The project is due to be finished by May 2015.
