Siam Commercial Bank joins pilot project to support funding aimed at combating PM 2.5 in the sugarcane and sugar industries

Siam Commercial Bank, in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry's Office of the Cane and Sugar Board, Bank of Thailand, and Krungthai Bank, has launched a "Pilot project to support funding to help reduce PM2.5 in the sugarcane and sugar industries." This joint initiative aims to address challenges faced by the business sector and farmers, fostering environmental adaptation and mitigating the impact of air pollution caused by small dust particles (PM2.5). Such pollution adversely affects public health, the tourism sector, and the Thai economy. At the launch event was Dr. Yunyong Thaicharoen, Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Wealth Banking Officer and Mr.Rungsi Vongkitbuncha, Executive Vice President, Corporate Banking 2 Function, Siam Commercial Bank alongside executives from the Bank of Thailand.

Aligned with the policy direction of the Bank of Thailand, Siam Commercial Bank is committed to actively supporting the business sector in concretely adapting to environmental sustainability. This involves designing financial products that provide funding to business operators in the sugarcane and sugar industries for the acquisition of agricultural machinery, as defined by the Bank of Thailand. The objective is to address the PM2.5 issue by offering loans with special interest rates and extending the repayment period to up to seven years. Repayment, structured to occur once a year, aligns with the annual harvest and sale of sugarcane. This collaborative endeavor is expected to diminish environmental impacts and enhance cooperation between government agencies and the financial sector.

Entrepreneurs interested in participating in this initiative can contact their relationship manager to inquire about special interest rate loans, which are available now.
