Toshiba Plant Systems and Services has signed a contract with Malaysia-based Cambodian Energy II for constructing a 150MW coal-fired power plant in Sihanoukville, Cambodia. Recently, the Council of Ministers in Cambodia voted to increase existing coal-fired power plant capacity in Sihanoukville. Toshiba and its subsidiaries, TPSC Engineering of Malaysia and TPSC from Thailand will handle all the engineering, procurement and construction tasks of the power plant. The power plant construction work is said to be completed by November 2019. The generated power will be sold to Electricite du Cambodge. With this contract, Toshiba became the first Japanese company to win a power plant construction contract in Cambodia.
