SAN DIEGO (AP) _ Travere Therapeutics, Inc. (TVTX) on Thursday reported a loss of $51.6 million in its fourth quarter.

The San Diego-based company said it had a loss of 84 cents per share.

The results fell short of Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 72 cents per share.

The drug developer posted revenue of $57.2 million in the period, exceeding Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $56.3 million.

For the year, the company reported a loss of $180.1 million, or $3.01 per share. Revenue was reported as $227.5 million.
