Quebecor Content today announced a long-term multiplatform agreement with Sony Pictures Television Canada, one of the world's largest content producers and distributors. The partnership will enable Club illico to offer a selection of Sony Picture Television's French content on its SVOD platform. In addition, TVA Group's channels will broadcast, on an exclusive basis, the French-language versions of some of Sony's best series and most popular movies on free tv and basic cable.

Many exclusive titles
The successful series La liste noire (The Blacklist), starring James Spader, is the first of many that will be offered on Quebecor's platforms. La liste noire, drew an impressive 24% market share on TVA and ranked #1 on Club illico after only one month!

Under the agreement, French versions of the popular films White House Down, The Smurfs 2, Grown Ups 2, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2 and The Equalizer, and of series such as The Night Shift (Nuits Blanches À L'Urgence), will be made available on Club illico in the coming months.

"We are very pleased to conclude an agreement with Québec's largest media group, and we look forward to working with the Quebecor team to help promote and support our series on air in French Canada" said Kevin Byles, Senior Vice President of Sony Pictures Television Canada.

"This agreement shows Sony's appreciation of our strength as a multiplatform broadcaster". It will enable us to offer rich and diverse content that our viewers will appreciate", commented Yann Paquet, Vice President Acquisitions, Quebecor Content.

"After barely more than 2 years in existence, Club illico is on a par with the best in the industry," said Myrianne Collin, Senior Vice President, Strategy & Market Development of Videotron. "With its current programming and the agreement we have signed, our subscription video on demand platform stands out in terms of the number of titles it carries, their relevance and, most of all, their quality."

With this partnership, Club illico will be able to continue expanding its vast catalogue of more than 4,000 titles from the major international studios and offering its subscribers a diverse selection of high-quality content.

The agreement with Sony Pictures Television is consistent with Quebecor Content's strategy of acquiring the best content produced in the world and making it available to Club illico and TVA Group.
