UniCredit said Tuesday that it has appointed Gianfranco Bisagni as group chief operating officer as part of a series of appointments designed to accelerate the Italian bank's transformation.

Bisagni will replace Bart Schlatmann who is leaving the bank, UniCredit said.

Bisagni will work with Ali Khan, who the bank has appointed as group digital and information officer. Khan succeeds Jingle Pang who is departing the bank, UniCredit said.

"This focus on strengthening the partnership requires operations to adjust its approach. His understanding of both the needs of the business, coupled with his direct experience in operations, make him a natural fit to help make this change," the bank said.

Unicredit has appointed Teodora Petkova to head the bank's central and eastern-European operations, it added.
