Unitil : Majority of Unitil Customers Restored

Unitil Corporation, a provider of electricity and natural gas to customers in New England, has restored power to a majority of customers, ahead of its initial estimate of tomorrow morning, thanks largely to improved working conditions and assistance from crews from other regional utilities. Restoration to some single service issues and isolated pockets of customers may extend into the overnight hours.

As of 2:30 p.m. approximately 250 Unitil customers in the greater Concord area were without power, down from a peak of over 11,000 system-wide early Sunday morning. Crews from Green Mountain Power and New Hampshire Electric Co-op joined Unitil and other third-party crews already working in the Concord area today, expediting restoration efforts within a region that saw significant damage from the weekend storm.

"The additional crews provided great help and we thank them for their support during today's restoration work," Unitil External Affairs Director Alec O'Meara said. "As we reach the final stage of restoration, we remind all customers to never assume their outage is reported, and that it is wise to report again should you remain out after power is restored to your street or neighborhood, as there may be an issue unique to your address."

Unitil's outage map at Unitil.com/map is being updated regularly with estimated restoration times for specific outages throughout the region as crews are assigned to specific repairs. Should new outages occur, the map will update in real time with estimated restoration times for these issues as well as they become available. Some individual customer issues may require work from a private electrician before restoration can occur.
