UT Aim installs latest semiconductor test equipment to strengthen its

ability to develop semiconductor test programs

Investment in internal equipment to promote human resource development amid increasing

demand for semiconductors

UT Aim Co., Ltd. has expanded its development capabilities for semiconductor test programs by introducing the latest semiconductor test equipment at its Semiconductor Development Test Solutions Section in November 2021. UT Aim is a wholly owned subsidiary of UT Group Co., Ltd., which is engaged in indefinite-term worker dispatch in the manufacturing and engineering fields, and specializes mainly in dispatching services in the manufacturing business.

Development site for semiconductor test programs

As semiconductor supply and demand is tight, the testing process responsible for quality control is more important than ever. In 2014, UT Aim's Test Solutions Section took over the service division of a semiconductor equipment manufacturer with a proven track record since the 1980s and has since been operating by leveraging its strength in experienced engineers. We have so far conducted debug evaluations and testing using client companies' equipment facilities. However, we have decided, as a new business phase, to enhance our own development capabilities for test programs and further strengthen human resource development by introducing the latest semiconductor test equipment at our own facilities.

1. Enhanced development of semiconductor test programs

We will carry out development work simultaneously with the test divisions of semiconductor vendors so as to enhance development of test programs that enable efficient volume production of semiconductor products with quality assurance.

2. Development of semiconductor test engineers

Having our own equipment will enable us to promote more effective skills training and development of semiconductor test engineers, which is generally considered to take about five years until completion of the acquisition of basic technical skills.

Newly installed equipment

Advantest's EVA100 (Engineering Model)

The EVA100 is a measurement system consisting of a small, space-saving, dedicated workstation.

  • Features
  • Multiple testing units (analog and digital) can be stacked together
  • System configuration can be changed with single testing unit
  • Time for test program development and kick-off can be reduced by utilizing it in combination with volume production models
  • Measures can also be taken to deal with aging existing volume production testers

About the Test Solutions Section

In 2014, UT Group took over the service division of a semiconductor equipment manufacturer with a proven track record since the 1980s and UT Aim's Test Solutions Section now has 120 experienced engineers in various fields of semiconductor products (as of June 2021).

With the goal of "contributing to client companies' development through high-quality technology and people," the Section participates in certain aspects of the software development of testers, including debug evaluations and testing. In the field of semiconductor test development, UT Aim has acquired the

ISO9001 quality management system, enabling it to handle products that have strict quality requirements, such as those for automotive applications.
