The new capacity has involved an investment of 14 million euros and doubles the capacity previously installed in Spain.

The new fibrous technology that was installed in 2018 in the plant of Cáseda (Spain) has had a great acceptance in the market in these years causing that in the financial year 2020 the expansion of the fibrous capacity under this technology was approved.

After nearly a year of work, new fibrous production lines have been installed at the Cáseda plant and have been started up satisfactorily.

This expansion, which doubles the capacity previously installed in Spain, has involved an investment of 14 million euros, including both machinery and environmental investments that have been made in line with the environmental impact reduction objectives established in the Sustainability Action Plan of the Viscofan Group.

It should be noted that despite the difficulties of the execution of the project in a pandemic environment, the established deadlines have been met and the new lines have already started to produce meters of fibrous casing for the European, American and Asian markets, mainly, reinforcing the service and positioning of Viscofan in these regions.

For José Antonio Canales, CEO of Viscofan "After the success of the new fibrous technology, customers were asking for more capacity. That is why this investment is very necessary for the Viscofan group. It makes us one of the largest fibrous manufacturers in the world and allows a multitude of customers around the world to benefit from these products, both those coming from this new factory and those we already produce in our US facilities".
