Viscofan SA has aquired 51.67% share capital of Nanopack Technology & Packaging, S.L. for 4 million Euros
As of 27th May 2015 Viscofan S.A. has acquired 51.67% share capital of Nanopack Technology & Packaging, S.L. (Nanopack) to Mr. Joaquim Nogué and Estudi Graf.
Nanopack was founded in 2012 in Gerona (Spain), this Company stands out in the development of special plastics films and bioplastics films applications based on Oriented Polystyrene (OPS), OPS additive, and polylactic acid (PLA) for the food packaging industry in Europe.
With this strategic acquisition Viscofan has access to a new added value technology in the plastic segment that reinforces our competitive position and our capacity to offer added value products. Nanopack's incorporation in Viscofan's perimeter will contribute to increase the production capacity and worldwide distribution of these products.
Viscofan will invest €5MM during the period 2016 to 2017 in Caseda (Spain) to facilitate the development of this plastic technology production. As a consequence this plant will become the most comprehensive production centre within Viscofan Group as centre of excellence for cellulose, with production capacity also in collagen and plastic technologies.
Viscofan SA is a Spain-based company engaged in the packaging industry, mainly for meat products. The Company focuses on the manufacture and distribution of artificial castings, as well as plastic films that are used for separation of sliced food. Its products range includes cellulose, collagen, fibrous and plastic castings. In addition, it designs and produces packing machinery, as well as provides related spare parts. The Company also sells electric power, which is produced by cogeneration systems. The Company operates manufacturing plants and sales offices in Spain, Serbia, Czech Republic, Germany, Brazil, Mexico, Uruguay, China and the United States, among others. It controls a number of subsidiaries, such as Nanopack, Technology and Packaging SL, Naturin Viscofan GmbH and Viscofan Centroamerica Comercial SA.
