(Silver Spring, Md.) Kevin Bennett has been promoted to general manager, Investigation Discovery (ID) and retains responsibilities as senior vice president, programming and research ID, Destination America and Military Channel, effective immediately.  The announcement was made by Henry Schleiff, president and general manager of Investigation Discovery, Destination America and Military Channel, to whom Bennett reports.  In addition, Jane Latman has been promoted to senior vice president of development, Investigation Discovery, and will report to Bennett.

"Over the past year, Kevin has been my key business partner for growing ID into the #10 brand for women and Jane is the creative genius behind so many of our successful and highly addictive series," said Schleiff.  "As integral members of my senior management team, and two of the most creative executives I've had the pleasure of working with in my career, our phenomenal 42 consecutive months of growth would not have been possible without their leadership and innovation."

A 16-year programming and development veteran with Discovery Communications, Bennett has been instrumental in the management of multiple Discovery networks, including the team that created Investigation Discovery.  Before joining Schleiff's senior management team to lead the centralized programming, scheduling and research division for ID, Destination America and Military Channel, Bennett was SVP of programming at Discovery Channel where he was responsible for planning, directing and executing the programming strategy for the flagship brand.  Prior to that, he was the key programming executive for ID and Military Channel, where he helped to launch many of the brands' successful franchises, including On the Case With Paula Zhan, I (Almost) Got Away with It, Disappeared, Ultimate Weapons and Top Sniper.

Bennett received a master of arts in communication theory and research, and a bachelor of arts in communication studies, from West Virginia University.

Jane Latman is a nine-year veteran of Discovery Communications, where she has held key leadership roles at ID, Military Channel and Discovery Times Channel, developing such distinctive hit series as Deadly Affairs with Susan Lucci, Homicide Hunter: Lt. Joe Kenda, Stalked: Someone's Watching, Wicked Attraction, The Will: Family Secrets Revealed, Disappeared and I (Almost) Got Away with It and I Married a Mobster.  Prior to joining Discovery, Latman was an award-winning freelance producer, director and writer.  Latman began her career as a freelance theater director and is a graduate of Oberlin College with a bachelor of arts degree in theater and sociology.
