SAN RAFAEL, Calif. (AP) _ Westamerica Bancorp (WABC) on Thursday reported fourth-quarter earnings of $23.8 million.

The San Rafael, California-based bank said it had earnings of 89 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring gains, were 74 cents per share.

The holding company for Westamerica Bank posted revenue of $56.9 million in the period. Its revenue net of interest expense was $56.4 million, exceeding Street forecasts.

For the year, the company said profit was nearly unchanged at $80.4 million. Revenue was reported as $209.7 million.

Westamerica shares have increased slightly more than 7% since the beginning of the year. The stock has dropped 13% in the last 12 months.
