Zecon Berhad announced resignation of DATO ABDUL MAJIT BIN AHMAD KHAN as Independent and Non Executive Director. Date of change is 29 May 2023. Age is 77.

Reason: This resignation arises as a results of the amendment to the Main Market Listing Requirements of Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad on the limitation of tenure for Independent Director. Qualifications includes BSc of Economics (Hons) from University of Malaya. Working experience and occupation: Dato Abdul Majit was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Company on 16 May 2007.

He was a former Malaysian Diplomat who joined the Malaysian Administrative and Diplomatic Service in 1970. In his 34 years of service, he had served in the Prime Ministers Department and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as well as in several missions abroad and senior positions in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He had served as the Undersecretary of South East Asia, Undersecretary of West Asia and Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) as well as the Director General of the ASEAN Division of the Foreign Ministry.

In the above capacities he has participated in several Prime Ministerial and Ministerial visits to these countries as well as to ASEAN and OIC Meetings and Summits. He had served as a diplomat in Laos, Vietnam, China, USA and High Commissioner to Nigeria. He served twice in China and was the Ambassador to China, a post he held for seven years until his retirement in January 2005.

He is currently the President of Malaysia - China Friendship Association (PPMC), Honorary Chairman of the Malaysia - Chinese Chambers of Commerce. He was the Chairman of the Malaysian Investment Development Authority from 23 April 2019 to 23 April 2021. He is also the Chairman of MGB Berhad and a Director of Dutaland Berhad, Hong Leong Asset Management Berhad and Unitrade Industries Berhad.
