Emergency luminaires: safety first

When it comes to human life, fail-safe performance is essential. Safety lighting must work - at all times and reliably. It must strictly comply with standards to be on the safe side if damage occurs. That's why emergency luminaires are inspected thoroughly at Zumtobel, and certified by independent authorities. The aim is to ensure long-term, fault-free operation with minimum maintenance, under the wide-reaching Zumtobel 5 year guarantee.

Quality Made in Austria

Quality begins at the production stage. Safety (sign) luminaires from Zumtobel are produced at the company's headquarters in Dornbirn. Before new luminaires are launched on the market, numerous tests are carried out at the company's own test laboratories. Every single luminaire goes through an end test during production before being sealed. In addition, independent testing bodies and renowned institutions also confirm the light technology's safety, sustainability and premium quality. Here are just some of the bodies:

Extra robust drivers

The life time of safety lighting largely depends on the control gear. Zumtobel has developed the EMpower PROset control gear together with Tridonic. In addition to a life time of up to 100,000 hours, the driver has intelligent functions that offer additional protection for the luminaires. Essential parameters, such as operating hours in network and emergency operation or faults, are monitored continuously and stored in the black box. This data is read using the PROset App, providing important information for troubleshooting.

Batteries with a guaranteed life time

If there is a power failure, the battery is what keeps supplying energy to the LED. Zumtobel relies on sustainability and durability here. It uses NiMh batteries, which do not contain the heavy metal cadmium, unlike NiCd batteries.

New batteries are tested over the course of a year under extreme conditions. We only consider batteries that pass all the tests, and we select the best ones for use in our luminaires. With the G5 versions, Zumtobel now offers emergency luminaires with a 5 year guarantee - which also covers the battery.

Extra efficient, durable LEDs

Zumtobel always uses the latest LED technology and continuously optimises lenses and light technology. For example, pictograms can be illuminated perfectly with high luminance. A small number of safety luminaires is sufficient to light large spaces and long corridors.

Zumtobel combines this efficiency with extra-long life times. RESCLITE PRO safety luminaires use the latest LEDs to achieve a life time of 100,000 hours with a reduction in luminous flux to just 90 percent (L90). This guarantees maximum reliability.
