ABB will present a wide range of innovative rail technologies that bring safety and efficiency to new levelsfor rolling stock and infrastructure at InnoTrans in Berlin, from September 18-21, 2018, a biennialtrade fair that is the world's largest international platform for transport technology. ABB will be atbooth no. 304 in Hall 9.

As a world premiere, ABB will display the first-of-its-kind, dry-type traction transformer, based on ABB's time-tested RESIBLOC® technology. The oil-free solution, which uses air as a cooling medium, ensures unprecedented safety and significant energy and eco-efficiency, potentially saving operators up to 10 percent in overall energy costs. The innovative design allows for the parts to be recycled and minimizes maintenance for train manufacturers and railway operators.

ABB will also showcase a new generation of BORDLINE® traction converters based on patented multi-level topology, incorporating the latest semiconductor technology. This enables a lightweight construc-tion of the components and the most energy-efficient traction chain. Also on display will be an energy storage system, which is increasingly becoming an integral part of propulsion chains in all kind of rail vehicles due to the need to improve energy efficiency and decarbonize transport requirements.

Protection, control and safety solutions will also be on display, such as ABB's new PMA multilayer prod-ucts JXPCSF and XVCSF for rail vehicle construction, which offer high quality durability properties to guard against the impact of ice and cold.

Also on display will be ABB Ability™ Ellipse, the connected asset lifecycle management solution that uni-fies world-class functionality for enterprise asset management (EAM), workforce management (WFM) and asset performance management (APM). This helps reduce downtime, improve reliability and help lower the total cost of ownership.

ABB will be unveiling an energy storage system designed for rolling stock. The system is increasingly be-coming an integral part of propulsion chains in rail vehicles, helping to improve energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions. The lithium-ion based energy storage system is characterized by its high charging power and low temperature performance.

'ABB's innovative technologies help customers maximize safety and energy-efficiency while minimizing environmental impact,' said Thierry Lassus, head of ABB's Rail Industry Sector Initiative.' Transport and infrastructure are key focus areas in the company's ongoing commitment to sustainable mobility, and we continue to build on our innovative track record in this area.'

ABB has a long history of providing innovative and energy-efficient technologies to the rail sector, manu-facturing and servicing all components and sub-systems in urban, intercity and high-speed networks for rail infrastructure and rolling stock. ABB also provides life cycle service support, including maintenance and retrofits for its large global installed base.
