Admiral : supports young gymnasts

A Caldicot gymnastics club can keep on competing thanks to local employer, Admiral.

Wye Gymnastics and Galaxy Cheerleading is a charitable organisation which strives to provide a centralised hub for the local community. Here, children and young people can participate in recreational activities and develop fundamental movement and social skills to build a better, brighter future. The club also competes in regional and national competitions.

Admiral has provided new safety mats in the gymnasium, enabling young gymnasts to continue developing skills and prepare for their next competition.

Emma Smallcombe, who works in Admiral's Newport office applied to the company's Community Chest Scheme for the funding. The scheme provides funding for charities, sports teams and organisations in which Admiral staff members or their families are involved.

Emma said, 'My nephew has been a member of Wye Gymnastics for over five years. He's improved so much over his time there and travelled across the UK for competitions, and it's great that my employer will help support the club'.

Carly Hawke, General Manager at Wye Gymnastics and Galaxy Cheerleading said, 'Support from organisations like Admiral is so important and allows us to purchase much needed equipment which will be used by over 550 children who visit us on a weekly basis, from a grass roots level, right up to our competitive athletes.All of the coaches and children at the club are so excited for the new safety mats to arrive and cannot thank Emma and Admiral enough for this contribution'.

Admiral's Community Chest scheme has been running for over twelve years and gives thousands of pounds annually to local charities and organisations in South Wales.
