The European Commission said Monday that it has granted unconditional approval to Ams AG's acquisition of Osram Licht AG.

The commission said the deal would raise no competition concerns in the European Economic Area.

"During its investigation, the commission received feedback from a broad range of competitors and customers of Osram and Ams, including manufacturers of consumer electronics and of automotive equipment," the commission said in a statement.

Austrian sensor maker Ams, which is listed in Switzerland, launched a new offer through its subsidiary Ams Offer GmbH in November 2019 at 41 euros ($46.12) a share to take over the lighting-technology company, lowering the minimum acceptance threshold to 55%, which was reached in early January 2020.

A previous offer failed as a 62.5% threshold was not reached.
