The impacts of the coronavirus are affecting almost all areas of life in the meantime.

The pandemic has triggered worries, uncertainties, fears, and hardships worldwide and has cost many lives already. It poses new challenges for all of us, challenges that can only be overcome with joined forces.

As an international corporation with more than 6,700 employees at many sites around the globe, we at Aurubis are aware of our responsibility. In everything we do, the safety and welfare of our employees have always had the highest priority.

We, the Executive Board, together with the works councils and a number of different departments, have taken every step possible to adapt our action plans to this completely new situation in a short time and to minimize the infection risk at our sites. We are still doing this consistently: we assess the situation every day in our company-wide crisis management team and provide our employees with timely information through all of the internal communication channels.

We have put extensive measures in place to protect our employees and the social environment they live in.

This includes immediately halting all business trips and public business at our sites. Employees were asked at a very early stage to avoid taking private trips as much as possible. Aurubis assumes the cancellation costs if they aren't covered by the travel operator.

Wherever possible, our employees are working from home. Those who can only perform their work at the sites are required to follow strict safety and hygiene regulations. Company restaurants have been closed until further notice.

We offer parents of young children the option to adjust their working time models, to make their working hours more flexible, and to reschedule or trade shifts. We grant these parents up to three days of paid leave to coordinate childcare, without any red tape.

Luckily, thanks to the measures that have been taken, the impacts of the virus on Aurubis and our employees have been limited thus far. We will do everything to ensure that it stays that way. We owe our thanks to all of our colleagues fighting this danger on the front lines - whether the medical departments or the coordinators on the Aurubis crisis management team. Last but not least, we would like to thank everyone at Aurubis who has quickly and decisively enacted the announced measures and continues to follow them consistently.

At the same time, we want to maintain operations in our facilities and uphold the high level of quality in production.

Our thoughts are with everyone who is directly affected by this crisis. We would like to express our sincerest thanks to all of the healthcare workers and everyone involved in the various public and private working groups who give their utmost every day to curb the pandemic as fast as possible and, ultimately, to overcome it. Stay healthy!
