Virginia King, health and wellness director at Brookdale Zanesville in Zanesville, Ohio, received an 'excellence award' from the Ohio Assisted Living Association. The executive director at Brookdale Zanesville, Sarah Vincenzo, nominated King, a registered nurse for more than 29 years.

'It can take her 30 minutes to get from one point to another when it would normally take five seconds,' Vincenzo said. 'Why? Because she is sought after by families who want to praise her, residents who want her attention, or staff wanting to absorb more knowledge. She is the first person anyone thinks to call for an unusual or complicated clinical need.'

King is described as having a kind, loving heart and someone others desire to be around. She is also a caregiver to her elderly parents, whom she cooks meals for. She's shown true compassion for her nurses, by bringing them food, helping those who are in nursing school prepare for upcoming tests and even driving some of the children to various sports practices and after school events.
King exemplifies what it means to be part of the Brookdale family. She enriches the lives of others in so many ways.
