Internships allow individuals to gain valuable skills before officially entering the workforce. Crawford & Company's internship program recruits college students and allows them to gain exposure to multiple disciplines, providing opportunities that encourage talent and hard work within our offices around the globe. Crawford's I2e (Intern to Employee) blog series features individuals who have turned their internships into full-time career opportunities at Crawford.

Amanda Bevis, a native of Atlanta, Georgia, was looking for an internship program while attending Kennesaw State University. Top on her list was to find a role where she could make an impact with a company that cares about others and wants to make a difference. During a career fair at Kennesaw State in the Fall of 2018, Amanda met Allie Williams, a recruiter for Crawford. Allie presented the opportunities that Crawford had to offer and suggested that Amanda apply for an internship program. Crawford's mission of restoring and enhancing lives, businesses and communities appealed to her.

Amanda participated in the 2019 Crawford Summer Internship Program, in the Global Compliance Department, at the Atlanta Service Center. Her favorite thing about the internship was the respectful and open dialogue it facilitated.

'My supervisor was Kelly Banks. She is a phenomenal mentor and strong female role model, and I am proud to now call her a friend,'

Amanda said, 'You are really given an opportunity to ask questions and offer your own thoughts and perspective on pressing issues. I learned a lot about Crawford and regulatory compliance, but I think the most important thing that I learned was about myself and what I wanted from a career.'

When asked what advice she would give to someone seeking a Crawford internship, Amanda notes, 'It's a phenomenal opportunity, but it is exactly what you make of it. You are given so many tools and opportunities, but you must take advantage of them. Ask and answer as many questions as you can, and really communicate your goals and desires. The summer moves quickly, and you have the power to shape what this internship means for you.'

So, what happened to turn an internship into a full-time position? 'As I progressed through the internship, I found passion in my work, and I believe that those around me saw that passion,' Amanda said, 'I communicated my desire to contribute on a permanent basis and at the end of the summer I was offered that opportunity.'

Upon graduation from Kennesaw, Amanda transitioned to a Crawford Global Compliance Analyst as of fall 2019 working in the Global Compliance Department at the Atlanta Service Center. 'My favorite thing about working at Crawford is my team. I couldn't imagine a more supportive work environment. Outside of my team, I love the volunteer opportunities and support we provide to others. This is a company that loves to give back.'
