Silan releases current mode PWM+PFM controller SDH682X series with built-in high voltage start-up and high voltage MOSFET

Silan continuously unveiled new products in AC/DC controller field----the current mode PWM+PFM controller SDH682X series AC/DC controller with built-I high voltage start-up and high voltage MOSFET for SMPS, which is the upgraded version of SD686X series. These series circuits feature low power dissipation, low start-up current, low EMI, high efficiency up to 84%, adjustable output voltage, and good consistency of output limit power. Now, the output power available on the circuits are 8~18W in full voltage range and 10~21W in specific voltage range. The circuits can be widely used in set-top boxes, DVD players, and power adaptors, etc.

These series circuits use Silan'spatented technologies including interleaved frequency jitter and peak current compensation. Where, the interleaved frequency jitter technology can make the oscillation frequency hopping within a small range to reduce the radiation at a single frequency, which can effectively reduce EMI and simplify the EMI design. While, the peak current compensation can provide the limit peak current balance and effectively reduce the stress on transformer after the circuit initialization.

In addition, the switch frequency (20~100KHz) and the peak current can be adjusted according to the output load. The frequency reduction mode with light load and peak current control can provide higher efficiency for the circuits. In standby mode, the circuits enter burst mode to reduce the standby power dissipation. And the circuits integrate various protections including undervoltage lockout, overvoltage protection, overload protection, over temperature protection and pulse LEB. When the protections are triggered, the circuits will auto restart until the system is normal.

Compared to SD686X series, SDH682X upgraded in the following aspects:

1.Built-in high voltage start-up circuit with lower power dissipation;

2.External resistor to control the normal working input voltage;

3.Built-in slope compensation circuit for wider transformer setting;

4.Wider operating voltage range (8~26V) more convenient for customer's design;

5.Lower overload protection power dissipation;

6.Optimize the start-up characteristics, to improve circuit reliability.

SDH682X series circuits are based on 600V BCD technology developed by Silan and they are available in DIP-8 package with built-in 500V start-up circuit and 650V power MOSFET which makes the circuits feature high integration, small PCB area and convenient debugging, etc. Compared to the application solution that adopts independent control IC and power MOSFET, SDH682X series not only reduce the BOM cost but also improve the reliability of the circuits.
