TORONTO — Provincial police in Toronto say two children have been seriously injured in a three-vehicle crash.

Police say the children were in a Honda on Highway 401 on Friday night, when it rear-ended a car that was slowing down for traffic, and was then hit by a pickup truck from behind.

Sgt. Kerry Schmidt says a three-year-old child is in life-threatening condition and a six year old is in critical condition.

He says a woman travelling in the Honda was also taken to hospital with less serious injuries.

Schmidt says the crash was likely caused by driver inattention.

Police say the children are being monitored in hospital and family members are there with them.
